"Diagnosis of the University of Maryland Electron Ring with an Orbit Response Matrix"

The University of Maryland Electron Ring (UMER) is a scaled electron beam accelerator. Using a low-energy, high current electron beam, UMER studies the beam and accelerator physics of space charge. Although UMER is compact, it is a complex system with more than 100 magnets and other electronic devices. Identifying device failure or malfunction is always a challenge. With the help of the orbit response matrix, we can diagnose the system quickly and efficiently.
