Graduate Student Seminar - 10/26/2012

"Electron Bernstein Waves"

by Remington Reid

Friday, October 26, 2012 -- 12:00 p.m.
Large Conference Room, 1207 Energy Research Facility

Advisor:  Professor Adil Hassam

Electron Bernstein waves offer the possibility of measuring electron temperature in warm, overdense plasmas that are inaccessible to probes and conventional electron cyclotron measurements. I will present evidence that Bernstein waves have been observed on the Maryland Centrifugal Experiment and discuss their relation to the electron temperature.
