"Landau Damping and the Fluctuation Dissipation Theorem"

Landau damping is arguably the most salient feature of a collisionless plasma. We consider a minimal, yet widely applicable model, which captures Landau damping. The mathematical structure of this model is similar to the classic Langevin equation. We compare the results of this model with the classic fluctuation dissipation theorem. These results set the benchmark for a future study which explores the effect of turbulence on Landau damping in such systems.
