"Chaotic Oscillation in CMOS Circuits"

At microwave frequencies, ordinary digital circuits can show unexpected nonlinear responses. We examine a CMOS inverter coupled with electrostatic discharging protection circuits, designed with 0.5μm CMOS technology, for a feasibility of chaotic oscillations in their simplest possible structures. In addition, we report on a random number generator whose randomness is originated from a Boolean chaotic oscillator, designed and fabricated as an integrated circuit.
