Dr. Montgomery's ongoing experimental research characterizes novel photocathodes for next generation accelerators and free electron lasers, with applications ranging from ultrafast x-ray imaging to naval missile defense.
Dr. Montgomery received a B.S. degree in physics and optical engineering from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. His M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in physics were received from the University of Maryland, College Park. While pursuing his degrees his research interests included terahertz detection in polymers, high speed fiber optic networks, single photon detectors, quantum optics, and quantum efficiency of photoemission.
