Dr TenBarge's research interest is primarily in the area of turbulence in magnetized plasmas, focusing on numerical simulations of space and astrophysical plasmas. He is also interested in magnetic reconnection and relativistic plasmas.
Dr. TenBarge graduated from Indiana University, Bloomington, where he received a B.Sc. in astrophysics and mathematics in 2003. He then attended the University of Texas, Austin, where he worked primarily with Prof. Richard Hazeltine and Dr. Swadesh Mahajan and received his Ph.D. in 2009. From 2009-2013, Dr. TenBarge worked with Prof. Gregory Howes at the University of Iowa as a postdoctoral scholar studying gyrokinetic simulations of solar wind turbulence.
