Anatoly Shkvarunets

Shkvarunets, Anatoly

Research Scientist
1202Q Energy Research Facility

Research Interests:

Dr. Shkvarunets has investigated relativistic electron beam (REB) plasma interaction for REB transport, plasma heating and microwave generation.  His expertise is plasma filled gyrotrons, backward and surface wave oscillators . He was one of the creators of the Relativistic Plasma Microwave Oscillator and Amplifier.  Since 2000 his research interests include the study and development of plasma assisted microwave oscillator (PASOTRON) and plasma controlled microwave switches.  He also works in the area of optical transition, diffraction and synchrotron radiation of a relativistic electron beam.

Since 1975, he has been a junior and senior research associate at Lebedev Institute and later at the General Physics Institute in Moscow.  He joined  the University of Maryland, College Park as a visiting scientist in 1994 . He is now a visiting senior research scientist at IREAP.

Dr. Shkvarunets received his bachelor's degree in physics from Moscow State University, Russia, in 1970.  He held a Lebedev Physical Institute Graduate Fellowship from 1972 to 1975 and received his Ph.D. degree in physics and mathematics in 1977 from the same institute.

Selected Publications:

Dr. Shkvarunets has given over 20 conference presentations and coauthored more than 60 papers.
