Applications regarding energy harvesting, electrochemical energy storage, biomaterials, chemical sensors, biosensors, and (photo)catalysis summarize most of the fields in  which the surface chemistry plays an essential role. Then, the ability to control, to tune, and to investigate interfacial properties is crucial for the development of various devices.  Herein, we will report the preparation and the characterization of immobilization of redox active poly(ionic liquid). The immobilization of redox active poly(ionic liquid) by surface-initiated atom transfer radical polymerization SI-ATRP process onto electrode surfaces
has been investigated. 1-2 The surface and electrochemical properties of these modified surfaces were investigated by combining different techniques (XPS, AFM, ellipsometry,
contact angle, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry, and charging/discharging. Also, we can use redox active poly(ionic liquid) polymer brush as electrochemically reversible tunable surface wettability system. These structured
immobilized redox active poly(ionic liquid) have huge potential for various systems such as electrocatalysis 3 and energy storage 4 (organic battery, and supercapacitor). One the
other hand, non-noble metals have been developed for various electrochemical reactions such as oxygen evolution reaction 5-8, oxygen reduction reaction 9-10 , hydrogen peroxide evolution reaction 11, and hydrogen evolution reaction 12. We have investigated the reaction mechanisms by combining various electrochemical techniques. Particularly, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy is a powerful technique to ravel complex reactions.
