Written by esteemed Professor Isaak D. Mayergoyz, “Quantum Mechanics for Electrical Engineers” has been recently published by World Scientific Publishing Co. The text is intended for a one-semester graduate course in quantum mechanics for electrical engineers, and it can also be used to teach quantum mechanics to graduate students in materials science and engineering departments, in addition to those studying applied physics. 

The text provides a strong theoretical foundation for graduate courses in quantum optics and lasers, semiconductor electronics, applied superconductivity and quantum computing. This book covers, along with traditional subjects, the following topics: resonant and Josephson tunneling; Landau levels and their relation to the integer quantum Hall effect; effective mass Schrodinger equation and semi-classical transport; quantum transitions in two-level systems; Berry phase and Berry curvature; density matrix and optical Bloch equation for two-level systems; Wigner function and quantum transport; exchange interaction and spintronics.  More information can be found HERE.

Dr. Mayergoyz is an Alford L. Ward Professor and Distinguished Scholar-Teacher in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. He has been the author or co-author of 14 books and over 400 scientific papers, spanning many topics in electrical engineering. Dr. Mayergoyz has been a full professor of ECE since 1980 and has initiated the electric power engineering curriculum and educations program that ECE has maintained for over 30 years.
