BACKGROUND
Dr. Freund's work in the field of free electron lasers (FELs) includes analytic investigation of the orbital sability of relativistic electron beams in the undulator magnetic fields, as well as the spontaneous and stimulated emission of radiation. He has made important contributions to both theory and simulation for FELs operating over virtually the entire spectrum.
He has been elected a Fellow of the American Physical Society and has published more than 190 papers in refereed journals and has made numerous contributions to books and published proceedings.
