Journal ArticlePlasma, Accelerator, and Nuclear Physics[1] In the paper “Onset of collisionless magnetic reconnection in two-dimensional current sheets and formation of dipolarization fronts” by M. I. Sitnov and M. Swisdak (Journal of Geophysical Research, 116, A12216, doi:10.1029/2011JA016920, 2011) the description of the boundary condition for the z- component of the magnetic field at top and bottom boundaries of the simulation box (“Bz = Bz(t = 0)” in paragraph [16]) was incorrect. In simulations described in the paper the z-component of the magnetic field is initially equal to its equilibrium value and it further changes following Faraday's law.
