Journal ArticleComplex and Emergent SystemsThe sensitivity of chaotic systems to small perturbations can be used to rapidly direct orbits to a desired state (the ‘‘target’’). We formulate a particularly simple procedure for doing this for cases in which the system is describable by an approximately one-dimensional map, and demonstrate that the procedure is effective even in the presence of noise.
