The Two-Plasmon Instability for Low Temperature and Inhomogeneous Plasma

The fluid equations for the 2 omega _pe instability in an inhomogeneous plasma are formulated. The solutions are calculated numerically in the limit k>k₀ and I<or approximately=5*10¹⁴ W cm^-2, which are suitable for NRL experiments. Also unstable regions are mapped out as a function of irradiance, scale length and laser wavelength.
