Some history about our Institute
July 1, 1979 - The Laboratory for Plasma and Fusion Energy Studies(LPFES) was co-founded by Professor Hans Griem and Professor Martin Reiser. Professor Griem was the Head of the Plasma Physics Group, Department of Physics, College of Mathematics and Physical Science (CMPS). Professor Reiser was the Head of the Particle Beams Accelerator Group, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Clark School of Engineering. The two groups merged to form LPFES.
July 1, 1988 - LPFES was renamed the Laboratory for Plasma Research (LPR).
July 1, 1992 - LPR was renamed the Institute for Plasma Research (IPR).
July 1, 2001 - IPR was renamed the Institute for Research in Electronics and Applied Physics (IREAP).
