Abstract
Microwave photonics has emerged as a promising platform to provide technological solutions for microwave generation and sensing. In particular, optoelectronic oscillators and Kerr optical frequency combs have emerged as leading benchmarks, and they are today at the center of a very large body of scientific literature. The aim of this talk is to provide a comprehensive overview of this field, to outline the latest achievements, and to discuss the main challenges ahead.
*************************************************************************************2020 NEW VISITOR-POLICY: All colloquium attendees not possessing an LPS access badge shall enter through the exterior side doors on the lower level. Take the exterior stairs to the right of the LPS front doors down to the lower level; the entry double doors will be immediately at the bottom of the stairs. If elevator access is required, use the phone to enter the lobby, and someone will escort you to the elevator and down to the lower level. Upon entry and exit, please sign in to and out of the logbook on the podium in the lower level entryway.
Visitors to LPS wishing to access the upstairs lab spaces must fill out and process a visitor request form and show a photo ID before admittance, which is best done prior to arrival through an LPS employee. A visitor request form is NOT required if only attending the colloquium on the lower level.
Access to the LPS lobby for information is permitted by using the phone to the far left of the main entry doors.
