BACKGROUND
James Siverns received his undergraduate and masters degree from Lancaster University in 2006. He then joined the Ion Technology group of Prof. Hensinger at the University of Sussex where he received his Ph.D. in 2011. After completing his Ph.D. James joined the JQI at the University of Maryland as a postdoctoral researcher and worked with Dr. Quraishi on frequency conversion of single photons from trapped ions for quantum networking. In 2020 James became an Assistant Research Scientist in IREAP at the University of Maryland where he is working on long-distance ion trap quantum networking and hybrid networking between ions and neutral atoms.
